We’re looking for a full time Education and Support Services Coordinator

 

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Support and Education Services Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of all bereavement, caregiver, and volunteer support programming offered by Hospice Quinte.  The programs offered will focus on group experiences as the delivery method.  The Support and Education Services Coordinator works closely with the Patient and Volunteer Coordinator to develop and deliver Visiting Hospice Volunteer Training.  This position also recruits and trains volunteers for support services programs.  The Support and Education Services Coordinator develops, implements, and delivers community workshops, seminars, and education days on topics such as Hospice Quinte, hospice and palliative care, bereavement, grief, caregiver and end of life issues.  This position involves a 35 hour work week with the flexibility to work some weekends and evenings, for which time off in lieu will be given with the approval of the Executive Director.

The salary range is $42,500 – $53,500.

Qualifications
Education
  • Diploma or Degree in social services, psychology, counselling, pastoral care, or related field
Experience
  • 2-5 years of experience (specifically relevant experience in group facilitation in the social services and support sector)
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and delivering group and community programs
  • Professional experience in program coordination, client relations, client intake process, and data collection and management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of family dynamics in illness and grief; competency and understanding of general theories and approaches to grief; ability to mediate conflict
  • Awareness and knowledge of privacy and confidentiality issues regarding client care and information
  • Strong people skills with focus on collaborative work style
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including effective listening skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, time management, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with supervision
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, including public speaking
  • Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities with a sense of urgency to achieve goals
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to facilitate groups
  • Possess a vehicle and valid driver’s license
Responsibilities and Duties
Support Services
  • Develop, implement, and oversee all bereavement, caregiver, and volunteer support programming offered by Hospice Quinte
  • Ensure a variety of delivery methods in groups for adults, children, and youth; develop groups to respond to specific needs of a variety of age groups
  • Develop family grief and caregiver experiences where families can participate together
  • Ensure groups are offered during a variety of times and conducted in both closed and open group approaches
  • Ensure client confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Develop a process to evaluate all programs and incorporate quality improvement strategies
  • Promote Hospice Quinte services in the community
  • Partner and liaise with other agencies to coordinate services and to identify need for service development
Education Services
  • Develop, implement, and deliver community workshops, seminars, and education days on topics such as Hospice Quinte, hospice and palliative care, bereavement, grief, caregiver, and end of life issues
Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteer group facilitators and co-facilitators
  • Work closely with the Patient and Volunteer Coordinator to develop and deliver Visiting Hospice Volunteer Training
Data Collection and Management
  • Ensure all statistical records are updated regularly
  • Produce reports and statistical information for analysis as required
  • Maintain all volunteer, client, and group member records and notes
